On Good Morning America, we learned of a new diet called the Fast Metabolism diet. Haylie Pomroy is known as the “celebrity nutritionist” and is the author of a new book called Fast Metabolism Diet: Eat More Food And Lose More Weight.

Haylie Pomroy’s new book claims you can lose up to 20 pounds in 4 weeks.

The book promises that you can lose up to 20 pounds in 4 weeks by using food to enhance your metabolism. The subtitle of her book tells us that we can “Eat More Food & Lose More Weight.” “Food,” Pomroy says, “is the vehicle for weight loss.”

Recently, this fast metabolism diet has been the go-to diet for celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and LL Cool J.

At the Institute for Culinary Education, GMA found out exactly that. Pomroy says that there are three Fast Metabolism diet phases, where dieters eat specific foods.

  • Phase 1: This phase includes eating fruits, carbohydrates, protein, and vegetables.
  • Phase 2: This phase is all about eating lean protein and lots of veggies.
  • Phase 3: This phase incorporates eating healthy fats.

GMA: Fast Metabolism Fad Diet?

Dr. David Katz thinks this idea is not new. The Director of Medical Studies in Public Health at Yale University says all of these fad diets really don’t offer anything new. The key, in his opinion, is discipline when eating.

While that may be so, the number of testimonies is mounting from people who say that the diet changed their lives, giving them new confidence and energy.
