Sailor Brinkley opened up for the magazine about that awkward stage, telling them some of her insecurities. Sailor talked to her mother before getting into modeling about dieting, and whether she needed to do it or not. Christie said that all she needed was to be happy and confident in herself, and not worry about dieting. Soon after, Christie posted a side-by-side comparison photo of herself to Instagram, showing that she had lost a lot of excess weight. Many are applauding Christie for this advice that told her daughter to focus more on herself as a person than on arbitrary numbers.

Sailor Brinkley is not the first daughter to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Ireland Baldwin, Kim Basinger’s daughter, and 11-year-old Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s daughter. Sailor now wants to pass on her mother’s “love your body” mentality, promoting healthy models with real personality that are more than cardboard cutouts.

However, even though Sailor followed her mother’s advice for the heavy emotional material, where the actual photo shoot was concerned, she found her mother’s advice to be quite a bit outdated. Instead, Sailor turned to her friends for advice on what to do, and they even staged a practice photo shoot together. That’s what moms are for, though, right?
