GMA: Jimmie Johnson Daytona 500 Winner
Racer Jimmie Johnson, who won the Daytona 500, came by Good Morning America February 26 2013 to talk about the big win. This was his second win in the Daytona 500, and he said the win meant a lot to him. Jimmie Johnson even brought the trophy with him into the studio. Johnson said it wasn’t easy to lift. Sitting between the two of them, it looked like a very fancy coffee table.
Jimmie Johnson said that the Daytona 500 is the only race that feels like a championship. Josh Elliott, who was interviewing Jimmie Johnson, said that the Daytona 500 is the Super Bowl of racing, or possibly the Super Bowl is the Daytona of the NFL.

The car that Jimmie Johnson won with will no longer be used by anyone. The car is in a museum at Daytona. Jimmie Johnson said the car will sit there until next year.

Josh Elliott asked Jimmie Johnson about Danica Patrick, who is smashing racing records for women left and right. She won the pole position for the Daytona 500, the first woman to do so. She ultimately placed eighth, which is the highest placing for a female driver in the history of the Daytona 500.
Josh Elliott asked Jimmie Johnson how he thought Danica Patrick was handling the spotlight. Jimmie Johnson said she’s doing a great job and that she showed her comfort on the track in the race. He said she’s done an amazing job. He said that no one on the track looked at her and saw anything but another car competing for the win.
