Good Morning America: Zoe Saldana’s Weight on Allure Cover
The Star Trek star Zoe Saldana graced the cover of Allure, complete with a headline telling her exact weight. The headline read “Zoe Saldana: 115 Pounds of Grit and Heartache.” Although Allure may have meant the headline to mean that she is small in size, but powerful, the magazine has received a media frenzy of backlash for it.
The headline has brought up questions. Would a magazine ever publish a man’s weight? Was her weight published for the shock value? What will this do to girls susceptible to eating disorders? Will girls feel that they need to weigh the same as the actress? Allure has asked the public via Facebook to submit their questions or insight on the issue.
Good Morning America: Zoe Saldana’s Cover Shoot
Although Zoe Saldana has not yet commented on the fact that her weight was published on the cover of Allure or the media frenzy it sparked, she said that she is happy with the way the photo shoot turned out. She was photographed topless on the cover and fully nude, but angled so that she’s covered, inside the magazine.
She said this is the first time she has shown so much of herself on a photo shoot. She said that she does pilates three times a week to stay in shape. Although her weight may seem low, she is a healthy, fit woman and the magazine was trying to show that although she’s small, she packs a punch and even though she comes in a small package, she is powerful. Robin suggested an alternative headline, “Don’t Let The Frame Fool You,” as a better way to get that point across without having to print her weight.
