GMA: The Host Review

The Host stars Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons came by GMA March 27 2013 to talk about the film. Author Stephenie Meyer was just on to talk about it, but it was very refreshing to see the stars themselves. Max Irons is the son of star Jeremy Irons, and apparently while Lara Spencer rolled the clip from the movie, Saoirse Ronan was teasing Max Irons about that and he teased her right back for being an Academy Award nominated actress (for Best Supporting Actress in Atonement.) The Irish actress pointed out that she doesn’t mind people knowing about her Academy Award nomination and wasn’t sure what the problem with it was. The two were charming together, and no doubt make great costars.

GMA: Saoirse Ronan & Max Irons The Host

Saoirse Ronan’s character is a human girl who gets inhabited by an alien. Max Irons plays a human man who was in love with the human girl before the alien inhabited her. Saoirse said she was really drawn to the people involved. She said she really got along with Stephenie Meyer and that she loved playing two different characters. Max Irons said that the movie is an unusual love story and that’s what drew him to it.

GMA: Saoirse Ronan Does Her Own Stunts

Saoirse Ronan did her own stunts in the film. The cast and crew took bets on whether she would do one particular stunt, a jump off of a balcony. Max Irons added that he was sure she wouldn’t do it. Saoirse was really shocked he was part of the bet. Irons said he was sure she’d chicken out. “I’ve done loads of stunts!” Saoirse declared.

The two actors are charming together. To be honest, watching The Host was never on my list of things to do. But after watching the two stars interact, it makes me want to see the movie. They clearly have a great relationship, and if that translates onto screen, it’s sure to be a great thing for the movie.
