GMA: Roma Downey & Mark Burnett The Bible Review
Mark Burnett, the man behind Survivor and Shark Tank, and his wife, Roma Downey, an Emmy nominated actress, stopped by Good Morning America February 27 2013 to talk about their new miniseries, The Bible. Elizabeth Vargas asked them what made them take on a subject so immense as to bring Bible stories to television.
Mark Burnett said he thought it was time to do a visual update of the Bible. He said they showed their kids Ten Commandments and their children rolled their eyes at it. So they decided it was time for an update.

Roma Downey said they knew they faced a problem with how many and which stories to choose for the show. They could either tell lots of stories with very little depth or fewer stories with emotional resonance with the audience. They chose the latter option.

Elizabeth Vargas asked them how they approached telling stories from the Bible and picking the point of view to tell the stories from. Mark Burnett said that they have five hours of their miniseries dedicated to the Old Testament and five hours for the New Testament. He said it spans from Noah’s Ark all the way to Revelations. He said the last hour deals with the Resurrection and Ascension.

Elizabeth Vargas asked them about the special effects of the show. Mark Burnett said they got the team who made Gladiator and Clash of the Titans. Roma Downey added that the stuff in their show is epic, like Daniel and the lions and Moses parting the Red Sea.
