GMA: Argo Wins Best Picture At 2013 Academy Awards

In what may have been the best Oscars I’ve ever seen, it looked like every prediction came true. Argos director Ben Affleck may have been snubbed for the Best Director nomination, but he took home the one that counts. First Lady Michelle Obama presented Affleck, George Clooney and Grant Heslov with the Best Picture award. Affleck, who won 16 years ago for writing Good Will Hunting, said that it doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, what matters is getting back up again.

Speaking of people who got back up again, Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings PlaybookHer gorgeous blush pink Dior Haute Couture gown tripped her up on her way to accept the award and she collapsed on the stairs. In true Jennifer Lawrence fashion, she got back up and humbly accepted the award.

Lawrence told George Stephanopoulos later in the night that she was absolutely shell-shocked while accepting the award. A moment later, Jack Nicholson surprised Lawrence backstage to tell her how much he liked her performance. While she played it cool and laughed things off humbly, as soon as Nicholson was gone she freaked out and buried her face in her hands. The adorable starstruck moment is exactly why we love Lawrence.

Anne Hathaway: Best Supporting Actress

Another winner that was in shock and awe at her win, Anne Hathaway, met Jennifer Lawrence backstage. They bumped Oscars and complimented each other’s style. They both wore necklaces that draped down their backs.

Hathaway said she is not letting go of the Oscar any time soon. She said it was so special because she loves Fantine and her mother played the role in the touring Les Miserables once upon a time. As she took the stage, Hathaway whispered, “It came true!” It seems like just yesterday the world met her as the Princess of Genovia, and look how far she has come.

The cast of Les Miserables performed a medley from the film. Hathaway and Hugh Jackman had a special moment and she said she owed the award to him as well. The cast had never performed all together like that and it was a chilling moment.

GMA: William Shatner At the Oscars

The performances were spot on and spectacular. Les Miserables, Barbara Streisand, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jennifer Hudson brought the house down. Adele was indescribably beautiful as she belted Skyfall” and then won for Best Original Song.

Host Seth MacFarlane took losing Best Original Song in stride. He gave a show no adjective can do justice. The highlight was definitely William Shatner’s surprise appearance as Captain James T. Kirk.

GMA: Daniel Day-Lewis Best Actor Academy Award

Another predicted winner, Daniel Day-Lewis is the first actor to take home a Best Actor award for playing a U.S. President. He gave a hilarious speech near the end of the show, showing just how tired the actors were. This was the third Best Actor Oscar for Day-Lewis.

GMA: Life of Pi Four Oscar Wins

Several unexpected awards went out last night. Life of Pi received four awards, making it the big winner of the night, and director Ang Lee won Best Director. Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane’s Ted presented for sound editing and there was a shocking tie.
