Michelle Williams: Oz the Great and Powerful
Michelle Williams stopped by Good Morning America February 19 2013 to talk about her new movie, Oz the Great and Powerful. Amy Robach asked her why she chose the role of playing Glinda the Good Witch, since it’s such a departure for her.
She said she wanted to do a role that her daughter Matilda, who is seven, could see. She said she chose this movie because its sense of humor isn’t mean or sarcastic and she said she thought her daughter would be happy with it.
GMA: Michelle Williams Takes Her Daughter To Work
Michelle Williams said that the director of the film, Sam Raimi, did his best to make the behind the scenes of the movie magical for her daughter. She said she made sure to bring her daughter around to check out the set and be a part of the experience.
She said the director made a little director’s chair for Matilda and her daughter sat right next to him during the film.
GMA: Michelle Williams Playing Glinda
Michelle Williams said she wasn’t supposed to imitate Billie Burke’s performance as Glinda the Good Witch in the original Wizard of Oz, but she said that it was a huge inspiration for her.
GMA: Michelle Williams Flying & Wands
Just like in the original Wizard of Oz, Glinda the Good Witch travels in a bubble. Michelle Williams said that filming the flying scenes were her favorite part by far.
She also said she loved the wands she got to use. She had a rubber wand, a light-up wand, a wooden wand and a stunt wand. She said her daughter was given a wand from the movie to play with.
