GMA: Justin Bieber Anne Frank Controversy
It was a weird atmosphere on GMA April 15 2013 because only original team members Josh Elliott and George Stephanopoulos were in the studio today. What gives? I have no idea. But luckily, unofficial sixth musketeer Larry Hackett, managing editor of People[/amazon_link], who is on just about every other day, came by to talk about the headlines. This added some stability. Amy Robach, Rachel Smith and Ginger Zee filled in for Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer and Sam Champion.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber did another dumb thing in Europe. By now, I think we’ve all heard about his remark about Anne Frank. If you haven’t, here are the bullet points: Justin Bieber went to visit the Anne Frank Museum and in the guestbook, he wrote that Anne Frank was a “great girl” and that he thought she might have been a “belieber,” which is what he calls his fans.
What was Justin Bieber thinking? Larry Hackett said that someone needs to take his keyboard and pen away. He also said that he thought Justin Bieber was trying to do the right thing. Amy Robach, though, said what I’ve been trying to say since I first heard about it, but couldn’t find the words for: she said the tough thing to get around is that Justin Bieber turned the whole thing into being about him, rather than the memory of Anne Frank.
GMA: Psy Releases New Viral Video For “Gentleman”
Amy Robach, again speaking my thoughts, declared at the mere mention of Psy that the new song is already annoying her. George Stephanopoulos said that he hasn’t seen the video yet. Larry Hackett said that Psy is giving people what they want, calling the video “lewd.” I’m actually impressed that Psy accomplished this again. I totally thought his “[amazon_link id="B00970FKQ8" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Gangnam Style” was this decade’s “Macarena.”
GMA: Robbie Rogers First Openly Gay U.S. Athlete
Robbie Rogers, a professional athlete on the U.S. Olympic soccer team, has come out of the closet. He’s the first openly gay athlete in the country. Amy Robach said that she hoped this will lead other athletes who are gay to be open.
GMA: MTV Movie Awards Highlights
Linsey Davis gave us the highlights of this year’s MTV Movie Awards. It all centered around Will Ferrell, who was wearing a very loud three piece suit with a dollar bill pattern on it. The highlight, though, had nothing to do with the suit, or his Ron Burgundy mustache, which apparently he grew for Anchorman 2. The highlight was actress Aubrey Plaza, star of Parks and Recreation, who I have never heard of until just now, walking up to Will Ferrell when he was giving his acceptance speech for an award. The actress walked up and attempted to take his award away, while still holding a drink. “What’s happening? Are you okay?” Will Ferrell said, as confused as onlookers. Will Ferrell called her stunt “just a lot of liquor breath.” At least Kanye West can now rest easy that he wasn’t the drunkest person to interrupt an award acceptance speech. Although at least Aubrey Plaza was polite. Or, at least, as polite as you can be trying to steal an award from an actor while they’re giving their acceptance speech on live television.
GMA: Dancing With the Stars Reunion
GMA had a spotlight on Dancing with the Stars, which will have one of the biggest star-studded return dance numbers on the show April 15 2013. Professional dancers from the first 15 seasons are all going to perform. This includes the people GMA referred to as the “original badboys” of Dancing with the Stars, Maks and Tony, Wynnona Judd’s partner. Maks said that he didn’t think enough time has passed since he was last there. He said the big professional number will be really cool. Tony said he enjoyed his time off, although I don’t know how much time he could’ve possibly had, since he and Wynonna Judd were just voted off two weeks ago and he’s been training for tonight’s big dances. He added that Dancing with the Stars is like one big party.
