Good Morning America: Jane Fonda The Butler Review
Lee Daniels’ The Butler boasts six Oscar winners in its cast, including Forest Whitaker in the leading role, Oprah Winfrey as his wife, and Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan. On Good Morning America, Jane said that playing Nancy Reagan was a lot of fun but that it was a very large responsibility. She was very happy to hear that Nancy Reagan herself was very pleased with her performance of the character.
Jane Fonda definitely did her part to play Nancy’s part well, having studied all of her speech inflections and how she talks. She did all of her research to ensure that she captured the character well because she looked up to her so much. Nancy Reagan did a lot of good in the White House, including pushing forward the summit with the Russians.
Even though Jane Fonda doesn’t have the biggest role in the movie, she was just happy to be in it, she told GMA. She loved the movie, and thought that you learn quite a lot while watching it, something that can’t always be said of modern film. She was only on the set a day and a half, given that she only had a 20-second appearance in the movie, but being around her fellow cast members was great.
GMA: Oprah Winfrey The Butler
Jane Fonda couldn’t stop gushing about Oprah Winfrey’s performance in the film as The Butler’s wife. She couldn’t get over how well she disappeared into the role, saying that she actually forgot that she was dealing with Oprah a few times. Seeing her playing a role as a party girl with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth was a sight to behold.
Good Morning America: Jane Fonda The Newsroom Emmy Nomination
Jane has been doing far more than just playing Ronald Reagan’s wife, though. She recently got an Emmy Award Nomination for her work in The Newsroom. She loves playing in the show, and said that you won’t believe what you see happen to her character in the upcoming season.
Lee Daniels’ The Butler will be in theaters this Friday, August 16 2013.
