GMA: Kangoo Madness
In what was probably the weirdest interview ever conducted on Good Morning America (including Liz Vargas’ weird admission to Harrison Ford), Rachel Smith and Ginger Zee interviewed someone while wearing Kangoos. What are Kangoos? Kangoos are shoes that you wear that make you bounce like a kangaroo. They’re good cardio but also, because of the weights on the bottom, they’re excellent weight training as well. Rachel Smith did most of the interviewing, but both ladies bounced around on their Kangoos while Diane from Crush, their interviewee, also bounced on Kangoos.
She said that it’s also fun. Ginger Zee said that after three minutes, her calves were burning. Diane added that there are even Kangoos for children. Meanwhile, weirdly, GMA ran a little animation at the bottom that had cartoon versions of Ginger, Rachel, Amy Robach, Josh Elliott and George Stephanopoulos with actual photos of their heads on top. The cartoon versions were all using Kangoos, too.
GMA: Daphne Oz’s Health & Beauty Secrets
Rachel Smith went to The Chew star Daphne Oz’s house to find out her health and beauty secrets. Daphne Oz has a new book out tomorrow called Relish. Rachel Smith went over to her house at 5 a.m. for some reason. Why that early? I don’t know. Maybe that’s when Daphne Oz gets up every day?
Anyway, Daphne Oz supposedly wakes up every day by immediately jumping rope in her bedroom. I don’t believe this, because outside of a Rocky movie, I haven’t seen someone jump rope since elementary school. But I digress. Daphne Oz follows this with 15 lunges and one minute of meditation. And then, as if jump roping at 5 a.m. wasn’t torture enough (what time did Rachel Smith have to wake up in order to get to Daphne’s house?), Daphne Oz showed Rachel Smith her biggest secret: cod liver oil. She said this was loaded with fatty acids essential for helping with moisture in the skin, nails and hair. They mixed it with orange juice and drank it in one swallow. Rachel Smith said it wasn’t that bad. But I think it tastes like seaweed.
Then, for breakfast, Daphne Oz has a harissa and avocado toast breakfast sandwich. Harissa is a sweet chili pepper paste. Daphne mashes up the avocado onto the toast and then adds the harissa. Rachel Smith said she’s adding the toast to her morning routine. Next they revealed why they were up so early: apparently, Daphne Oz has to be at The Chew studio at 6 a.m. They showed more behind-the-scenes clips of Michael Symon, Mario Batalli and Daphne Oz (in hair curlers!) joking around. I think the hair curlers explain why her hair is always like a crazy lion mane every episode.
GMA: Kangooing the Weather
Then, Ginger Zee, who has had a weird day filling in for Sam Champion, including encountering a fan that was very disappointed that she wasn’t Sam, did the weather while Kangooing. She was literally in a work out session with seven other ladies and two men, all of them kangooing, while she showed off weather pictures from around the country and talked about some strong winds down in Oklahoma. At the end, she asked a random person in the crowd to tell George it was his turn, because she was way too out of breath.
