Billy Crystal has also enjoyed working with John Goodman, especially because they worked together. Generally with films like Monsters University, the actors record in separate studios, but Bill Crystal wanted to be in the same studio so that they could develop a genuine emotional bond and play off of each other’s nuances, which turned out great. It also helped because the voice actors don’t get to see the things they are doing voiceovers for until after they are recorded.

Billy said that one of the biggest themes of this movie is that your dreams don’t always pan out the way you want them to, and asks what you do to maneuver your way around obstacles like that.
