GMA: Jay Bilas New Book Toughness

Jay Bilas stopped by Good Morning America March 6 2103 to talk about his new book, Toughness: Developing True Strength On and Off the Court. Jay Bilas is an analyst and ESPN basketball commentator, an attorney and former player himself. Josh Elliott asked him what toughness is.

ESPN basketball commentator Jay Bilas came by GMA March 6 2013 to talk about strength of character and his new book, Toughness.

Jay Bilas said he thought toughness is meeting challenges head-on and not shying away from them. He said that this lesson applies to everyone, from basketball players to parents to people in the office. He said that being a star in a role in life and meeting challenges head on is what the book is all about.

Jay Bilas: How Good Can You Be?

Jay Bilas said that toughness is about finding out how good can you be and pushing your limits. Bilas said that he worked hard in college to be good at his sport, but he did conditioning to be more comfortable in his career. Another player did conditioning not for comfort, but to see how far he could take his game. Jay Bilas said that’s toughness.

GMA: Jay Bilas’ Father Is Toughest Person He Knows

Jay Bilas said his father is the toughest person he knows. He said he has his priorities straight, he always has a plan and he’s a really nice guy. He said that his father knows what he wants to accomplish.

Jay Bilas: “Why Can’t You Serve Coke” Video

Josh Elliott rolled a clip of Jay Bilas in high school interviewing a woman at a fast food place. He asked her if he could have a coke and she said no. He asked her, “Why not?” and she said it was because it was a state law that you couldn’t serve cokes until 1:15 p.m. Both of them laughed at the video. Jay Bilas explained that it was a high school media production project. Josh Elliott wished him luck with the book and shook his hand.
