Ellen May 31 2013
Ellen DeGeneres closed out the week with a generous surprise for Oklahoma tornado relief. Plus, her old friend Wanda Sykes visited to talk about aging, and Dave Franco was on to discuss learning illusions for Now You See Me. Here’s what happened on Ellen’s May 31 episode.
Ellen’s Oklahoma Tornado Lemonade Stand: Wells Fargo Tornado Relief
Ellen sent audience member Lauren outside at the beginning of the show to sell lemonade. The profits were supposed to go to Oklahoma Tornado Relief. At the end of the hour, Lauren reported that she made $250.
A few people on the street gave Lauren $20 for each glass. Ellen also kicked in $1,000. But the big surprise was that Wells Fargo bought the rest of the lemonade with a $100,000 donation to Wells Fargo.
As a reward for working the lemonade stand, Ellen invited Lauren back for a 12 Days of Giveaways show in December 2013. That will be a lot of fun for her!
Ellen Tries Audio Texting & Swisse Ultiboost Inner Balance Review
Ellen used her iPhone to show the audience the audio texting feature that lets you speak your text messages. Then she did a live commercial for Swisse vitamins with Andy Zenor.
Ellen: Wanda Sykes Public Bathroom Accident & The Hot Flashes Review
Ellen’s good friend Wanda Sykes was back on the show to talk about the perils of getting older (she has figured out why older people smell like pee). She also recalled getting into trouble in New Orleans while working on The Hot Flashes, her summer movie.
Ellen: Tea Time With Harry Connick, Jr. In A Tutu & Viggle Surprise
Harry Connick, Jr. put on a tutu and a tiara for Tea Time with Ellen’s little ladies, Sophia Grace and Rosie. Ellen also surprised a Georgia viewer with a trip to the show.
Ellen: Dave Franco Cats & Banana Magic Trick
Dave Franco (James’s brother) is in the new heist flick Now You See Me, and he brought some of his sleight of hand to Ellen’s stage. He also explained why his parents have a crowded house at the holidays, and it’s not because there are too many humans around.
