The British singer has been making a splash over the last year. She’s been touring with pop sensation Katy Perry (who herself now says she is already tired of being famous) and even got to perform at last year’s Royal Wedding.

Ellie Goulding took over for Jessie J as Katy Perry’s opening act, when Jessie J had to bow out due to an injury.

Her first US album is called Lights, but it’s been available for a little while now. The singer is currently hard at work on her second release, which is slated for later in 2012.

Ellen: Ellie Goulding Running Hobby

It’s always interesting to me to find out how stars spend their spare time. It appears that Ellie Goulding is still keeping it real even as she ascends to greater fame. She loves to run for exercise, and averages about six miles each day, according to some sources.

Though her music has been making waves in the United Kingdom since she came onto the scene in 2010, she’s still getting her footing here in America. But given the recent success of Adele, whose own across the pond leap didn’t happen until her second album, it seems like Ellie Goulding is on the right track.

Ellen: Ellie Goulding Vs Adele US Breakthrough

She could be poised for her starmaking moment at any time, and having already notched appearances on other programs like Saturday Night Live and Jimmy Kimmel Live, she is doing the work of getting her name and music out there.

Can recognition by the American music establishment be far behind? Maybe her sophomore effort, expected within the next year, will be the album that resonates with those behind the Grammys or other US music decisionmakers.

What do you think of Ellie Goulding? Is she another example of a second British Invasion, or is Adele in a class by herself?
