Ellen: Dancing With The Stars Donald Driver
You might not think of NFL football stars as natural dancers, but they do have to be quick on their feet. Maybe that’s part of the reason Green Bay Packers star Donald Driver is hanging in there on this season of Dancing With The Stars.
Donald and his TV dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd, talked to Ellen DeGeneres about this year’s fierce competition.
“You’re my third Green Bay Packer to have on the show,” Ellen said.
Ellen: Donald Driver Homeless Child
She congratulated the couple on their progress in this year’s intense competition. Ellen also delved into Donald’s difficult past, revealing that he spent some time as a homeless child, living in U-Haul trucks around age 7.
“You start thinking that you’re going on a field trip, but as you get older, you realize that you’re homeless,” Donald said. He said that he and his siblings turned out well, and he was able to pursue his dreams of providing for his family.

Ellen asked what she’s been surprised by in working with Donald as a dance partner.
“He’s super dedicated to winning this mirrorball trophy, and I’m so lucky to have him as a partner,” she said. “One thing that’s really surprising is that he always has manicures and pedicures.”
Donald defended himself, saying he likes to look good, especially in case his wife wants to rub his feet.
Ellen: Dance Dedicated To Cancer Survivors
Ellen recalled a touching moment in this season’s competition, when Donald dedicated a dance to a close friend, whom he lost to cancer.
“He introduced me to my wife, and me and my wife been married 12 great years,” Donald said, choking up as she spoke about his late friend. “To lose someone to a disease that no one has a cure for, cancer. For him to die in my arms, he had so many things that he wanted to tell me. But he never got a chance to tell me. And I wanted everyone to know that it wasn’t just for him, but for everyone that’s fighting cancer today, and past and present.”
Ellen said the message is that we can never take the future for granted, and take the time now to love and be kind to one another.
“Love your loved ones, because tomorrow’s not a promise,” Donald said. He cherishes his wife and three children.
