To honor the late singer, Robin sang a rendition of one of her iconic hits, “Exhale (Shoop Shoop).” The song was originally made popular thanks to Houston’s recording for the 1995 movie Waiting To Exhale.

It also appeared on the movie’s soundtrack album and debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 R&B chart upon its release. Whitney also co-starred in the movie Waiting To Exhale, her second film role after her debut in The Bodyguard.

Whitney Houston “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” Lyrics

The lyrics to this Whitney Houston hit were oddly prescient of her tumultuous relationship with singer Bobby Brown, whose negative influence is thought by some to have derailed Whitney’s successful career.

“Everyone falls in love sometime, Sometimes it’s wrong and sometimes it’s right,” the song begins. Singer Robin Thicke was emotionally affected during the tribute, even choking up during the stripped down, acoustic performance as pictures of Whitney Houston flashed by on the monitors.

Ellen: Robin Thicke “Love After War”

Not only does Robin Thicke look strikingly similar to his father, actor Alan Thicke of the ‘80s sitcom Growing Pains, he sounds just like him as well.

Ellen called Robin one of her favorite singers, mentioning that his current release, Love After War, is available now.

Love After War is Robin’s fifth studio album, featuring a guest appearance by Lil’ Wayne on the single “Pretty Little Heart,” which was Ellen’s Dance Song today.
