It’s been months since it first came out, but “Call Me Maybe” is still probably stuck in your head! From the U.S. Olympic swim team to Justin Bieber and friends, Carly Rae Jepsen’s mega-hit song became a worldwide sensation. Now,  the 26-year-old singer from British Columbia, Canada, is back on Ellen to prove that she isn’t just a one hit wonder! Carly debuted a new song, “This Kiss,” on Ellen’s show.


Carly was a finalist on the fifth season of “Canadian Idol,” where she eventually placed third. Carly’s song “Call Me Maybe” first gained international attention when fellow Canadian Justin Bieber tweeted about how much he liked it. After millions of hits on YouTube and ten million copies sold, the song was declared “the song of 2012” by several media outlets. Carly’s new song, “This Kiss,” is her first single since being thrust into worldwide superstardom.

“This Kiss” made its debut on Ellen when Carly performed it for the audience with her band. Just as catchy as “Call Me Maybe” yet different in style, the 80s influenced pop single is sure to be another hit. The audience loved it; especially when Carly jumped into the crowd and sang along with them!

Later in the show, Carly returned to sing “Call Me Maybe,” the song that started it all!

“This Kiss” and “Call Me Maybe” are both featured on Carly’s debut album, Kiss, which is now available. After she performed, Carly sat down with Ellen to express her relief that her album is finally done and ready for the public’s ears!

So, how has Carly’s life changed? She’s now performing to thousands and thousands of people, and her life has changed drastically in just the past six months. She called experiences such as performing in Mexico City as Justin Bieber’s special guest “surreal.”

Ellen told Carly that there are currently about 63,000 copycat versions of “Call Me Maybe” on the internet. But does Carly ever watch them? She said that her family and friends always send their favorite versions of the song, but Carly’s favorite is the Cookie Monster version.
