Justin Bieber said this is the first artist he has discovered. He heard her on the radio in Canada and was impressed with her talent and range. Carly explained that she had been signed in Canada, but didn’t know how to branch out internationally.

“Then one miraculous day, Justin called,” she said. “At the time, I was touring Canada in a soccer mom van with my band.”

The last time Justin Bieber was on Ellen’s show was for his birthday celebration. At the time, he couldn’t say much about his new single, “Boyfriend,” which didn’t stop Ellen from guessing what it might sound like.

She compared a video of her prediction from earlier this month to a 15-second clip of the song, which is being released on March 26 2012. Ellen said she thought her version sounded just like the finished single, but I’m not so sure.
