Ellen TV: Why Do People Say ‘Maybe, Maybe Not’
Ellen DeGeneres started her show by joking that people always come up to her on the street and ask her where she gets her ideas. “I always tell them the same thing,” she joked. “Mind your own business.”
But Ellen said she’ll share with her audience one of her secrets. She said for years, whenever she got an idea, she would write it down on a card and then put the card in a special box. She said it’s been a while since she’s read some of the cards in her box, so she wanted to read some. Ellen’s first card read, “why do people say ‘maybe, maybe not?’ I mean isn’t that the whole point of maybe? It covers the maybe not.”
Ellen: Bright Ideas & Jokes
The next card said, “I’m so happy this big booty trend has taken off. I can finally add Oreos to my grocery list.”
She then read off the a third card that asked why customer service people ask if there’s anything else they can help you with when they couldn’t even help you with the thing you called about in the first place. So true!
Ellen then asked, “What do you say if you don’t like tea? It’s not my cup of coffee?”
Next, Ellen read, “I bet it’s easier to succeed in Europe because you only have to go the extra kilometer.”
Ellen TV: Slide Whistle & Where’s Waldo
“Why does Waldo always go out at such busy times?” Ellen asked.
She then shared that she wondered how rich the person who invented the slide whistle is. She called for Andy to bring out her slide whistle while someone in the audience looked up how much the inventor makes.
Ellen: So You Think You Can Dance Top Six Dancers
Ellen then talked about the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance and shared that she wished it wasn’t over, but she actually the top six dancers from the season there on her show. The six dancers shook it to “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift. The group included the season’s winner, Ricky Ubeda.
Ellen: Matthew McConaughey Lincoln Car Commercial
Ellen then sat down and asked her audience if anyone had seen Matthew McConaughey‘s new car commercial. Ellen said the commercial surprised her the first time she saw it. The commercial shows McConaughey driving a Lincoln MKC when he’s stopped by a bull. He talks about the bull and then claims that the bull wants him to take the long way. So he turns the car around and drives away.
I’m not going to lie, I thought the commercial was a joke at first. It certainly wasn’t. I’m right there with Ellen, who said, “I have so many questions.”
She said her biggest question is why they cut her out of it. She said she was in the original version and thought it made more sense when she was in it. She then showed the commercial again, with Ellen edited into the back seat. Ellen joked with Matthew McConaughey and joked about the strange thing he was doing with his fingers. She then put “Turn Down For What” on the radio before they turned the car around.
I think I like that version much, much better!
