Ellen DeGeneres shared that you probably know her next guest, Wendi McLendon-Covey, from Reno 911Bridesmaids, or her show The Goldbergs.

Wendi just celebrated her 18th wedding anniversary. She said her marriage license finally showed up because after 18 years, her husband finally suggested they go to an office and have someone give it to them. She said they’re now legally married, as if they weren’t really before!

Ellen said she found out that Wendi had raccoons living in her yard. She said they’re very lovable to each other, but they’ll kill your pets and they’re full of diseases. Wendi said they were trying to eat rocks she has in her fountain, but Ellen told her they were just cleaning the rocks for her.

Along with the rocks in her fountain, Wendi also has gnomes in her yard. She said she’s been collecting gnomes for 10 years and people keep buying them for her. She said she’ll take the gnomes and make them do various things, showing two “senior citizen” gnomes playing chess. She even had a zombie gnome.

Wendi was recently on Sesame Street, which was on her bucket list. She said she and Elmo demonstrated the word strenuous.

Ellen then asked about her show The Goldbergs, which is set in the ’80s, and asked how fun it is to do that. Wendi said it’s fun for her because she was a teenager in the ’80s and now she’s playing a mom of teenagers in the ’80s. She said she kind of portrays her mom, but the woman she plays is “a little more insane.”

Wendi was just as enthusiastic as ever, and if you want to check out her show, the new season of The Goldbergs begins September 24, right before the season premiere of Modern Family.
