Instead of football, Wanda watched a dog show on television. Because she had had a few drinks in her, she wanted her dogs to watch with her. However, neither of them were interested, and Wanda couldn’t understand why her dogs didn’t want to support their own kind. “That’s like me not voting for Obama!” she joked. Wanda’s two dogs are Riley, a border terrier, and Simon, a chihuahua.

Wanda Sykes: Parenthood & Three-Year-Old Twins

Wanda is a mom to three-year-old twins. Ellen asked how the kids were doing, and Wanda said that they were great. However, she later elaborated. She explained that, as a parent, you automatically say that parenthood is the best; but really, “no, it’s not!” Wanda loves her children, but she now understands why some animals eat their young. The twins are a boy and a girl, Lucas and Olivia. Olivia is very girly, while Lucas just wants “destruction.” When the family are all  out to dinner, Lucas looks for every opportunity he can get to throw something, like a spoon.

Wanda Sykes: Wife Alex & French Holiday Traditions

Wanda’s wife, Alex, is French. With the holidays coming up, Ellen wondered, what are her French holiday traditions? Wanda said that American and French Christmas traditions are very similar, except that the French focus more on Christmas Eve as the big event of the holiday. Also, the French have “Papa Noel” instead of Santa, who is skinny and likes to smoke cigarettes. The family will be in France for the holidays, which will be great for Alex, because she’s “the talker” in their relationship. When Wanda comes home from a long day at work, she doesn’t like to speak at all. Their children speak French, but English “not so much.” Wanda had Ellen in stitches throughout her entire interview!
