Ellen: Steve Carell Visits Ellen As Gru From Despicable Me 2
In honor of the upcoming release of the sequel to 2010’s Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, Steve Carell came by Ellen today, dressed as his character from the movie, Gru. Speaking in the faux Russian/German/whatever accent (he said he’s from Albuquerque) his character has, Steve Carell sat down for a hilarious interview with Ellen.
Gru said he had never met Ellen before, but he had stood behind Ellen before in a Starbucks. She ordered a latte…in case you were wondering about that kind of thing. Besides that time in Starbuck, this was Gru’s first time in Los Angeles. He was really excited, as this was also his first time on television, and he had no problem being adorned by loving cheers from the crowd. Gru expressed his distaste for his oldest daughter’s interest in boys. There is one particular boy that she has taken a liking to, and all he wanted to do was kill him. That’s going to be an awkward prom. Despite the over protectiveness he felt towards his daughter, he was sure to tell us all that he is currently single.
Ellen: Gru Scares Tony
Unfortunately for Tony, he was not told that Gru was coming to the show today, and was brought out on stage blindfolded. Gru stood directly in front of Tony as he took his blindfold off, and Tony jumped into the crowd out of surprise. Who could blame him? Gru is one imposing dude. In an act of kindness so unlike him, Gru gave Tony a hug to make up for the scare.
Ellen: Gru Dances Through The Crowd
Ellen is all about making dreams come true, so she helped one of Gru’s dreams come true. Gru has always wanted to dance through the crowd like Ellen does during her show, and Ellen granted his wish. With a backdrop of funk music, Gru strut through the crowd with moves that would put any contestant from Dancing With The Stars to shame. Maybe we’ll be seeing Gru on the next season of the show?
