Seth Rogen: Independent Spirit Awards

You probably know Seth Rogen from his comedic movie work. But Seth is branching out this weekend. He will expand his repertoire to include hosting when he takes on the Independent Spirit Awards, airing Saturday February 25 2012 on IFC.

Seth told Ellen he has emceed fundraisers in the past, and has presided over a few Seders, but has no formal hosting experience.


Ellen said she thinks Seth will be a great host.

Seth Rogen: 50/50 Movie Nominations

Seth Rogen’s recent indepdent film, 50/50, is nominated for a few Independent Spirit Awards at the upcoming ceremony. The nominations include Best Independent Feature, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress, for which his co-star Anjelica Huston is nominated.


Ellen explained that 50/50 is a funny and touching movie about cancer, based on the screenwriter’s firsthand experience.

“People really seemed to like it,” Seth said. “I don’t care if we win, but it’s nice that we got nominated.” That’s what they all say, Seth.

Ellen said Seth deserved a nomination for his acting in the movie. You’ll have to tune in the night before the Oscars to find out how Seth’s film does.

Seth Rogen’s 30th Birthday

Ellen mentioned that Seth Rogen’s 30th birthday is approaching. He said he is starting to feel older, and is wearing New Balance shoes for arch support.

“You turn a corner when you hit 30,” Ellen DeGeneres said. “It’s an interesting thing.”

Seth Rogen agreed, observing that “things hurt all the time, and I’m concerned about it.”

Seth’s 30th birthday will be April 15, 2012.

Seth Rogen Plays Last Word With Ellen

Ellen challenged Seth Rogen to a game of Last Word. With 30 seconds on the clock, the pair went back and forth, trying to get the last word in on the topic of Pet Names For Your Significant Other.

Here are the words they used in today’s game. Seth’s words are bold, and Ellen’s are in italics.

    So you think New Balance shoes, Seth, are for old people? I think thirty is very young, being sixty myself, and think you should think about whom you may be offending by your goofy comments about being old.
    I used to think you were great and one of my favorite actors, but not now. I also wear New Balance for hiking and mountain biking, as does my husband. Not that this is about shoes, it’s about what you think is old. Re-think, please.
