Ellen: Seal’s Divorce from Heidi Klum
Despite that he’s a best-selling R&B singer, Seal didn’t dance at all on his way out to his seat. Perhaps that has something to do with Seal’s divorce from Heidi Klum after seven years.
Ellen said she deeply appreciated that Seal came on the show, despite the state of his personal life.
“After the news of you and Heidi separating, I would have totally understood if you had cancelled,” Ellen said. “So thank you for not canceling.”
Seal said he felt comfortable coming on the show because he knew Ellen would be compassionate.
“If there was anyone who was going to be respectful and sympathetic of that, I knew it was you,” Seal said. “I knew that I could come on here and be frank with you.”
“That’s got to be a hard thing,” Ellen said. referring to how much attention the divorce has attracted from the media. “I think people were just shocked.”
“I think so too and I think you can include us in that,” Seal said. “I think we were shocked too.”
Ellen: Seal & Heidi Grew Apart
Understandably, Seal seemed reluctant to go into much detail about what led to the breakup.
“For the intents and purposes of this show, you just grow apart,” he said.
Ellen: Seal & Heidi Klum Still Love Each Other
Despite the divorce, Seal said that he and Heidi “still very much love each other” and are trying to conduct their separation with as much dignity as possible.
“The thing that I’m most proud about of this great woman that I marries is that together, is that together, she’s given me four incredible gifts, four beautiful children,” Seal said.
Ellen: Seal & Heidi Klum Children
Seal said that he hopes that despite the attention from the media, his children will be unaffected.
“When you have four children, you just hope and pray that the rest of the world will respect that their little hearts are at stake too,” he said.
Ellen: Seal Wedding Ring
Ellen noticed that Seal was still wearing his wedding band.
“I am still wearing my ring but I thank that is pretty much just a token of how I feel,” Seal said. “We had eight years, eight wonderful years together. Just because we decided to separate doesn’t mean that you take off your ring and you’re not connected to that person anymore. Right now, it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have no intention of taking it off anytime soon.”
Ellen: Seal Soul 2 Review
Ellen noted that the divorce has come at a very bad time for Seal given the release of his latest album, Soul 2.
“It must be hard to promote the CD,” Ellen said. “Even the song your’e singing today is, ‘Let’s Stay Together.'”
Seal said that what’s going on in his personal life “doesn’t really change [his] performance or [his] motives behind making this album.”
“Perhaps I’ll sing ‘Let’s Stay Together,’ but I’ll be a little bit more emotional,” he said.
“You deserve all the happiness in the world and we all send our love to your family,” Ellen said.
