Ellen: Alanna Wall Polished Girlz
Alanna Wall is proof that you are never too young to make a difference in the world. At 12 years old, Alanna runs her own non-profit in Dayton, Ohio that gives girls something to smile about when they may not feel like smiling at all.
She started out drawing. Alanna told Ellen she loves to draw and wanted to do something cool with her nails and glitter. She said glitter makes everything better, and I have to agree with that.
Ellen: Polished Girlz Non-Profit
Her mother, Valerie, is a nurse and she told Alanna about working with girls with special needs. Alanna decided to start Polished Girlz to bring smiles and joy to girls with special needs and girls who are in the hospital. The organization now has 125 volunteers in many states. Valerie said she’s very proud of her daughter.
Alanna said that you can change the world in many ways. Her favorite part is seeing the smiles on the girls’ faces when they finish. She said Polished Girlz gives the gives in the hospital a chance to feel normal. The girls she has helped appreciate what the organization does and said it’s nice to have something to cheer them up.
Ellen: CoverGirl Nail Polish Gift
For Ellen’s show, Alanna had special Ellen nails with Ellen’s face, studs and colors galore. She said her nail mentor helped her do them.
Ellen was completely blown away by Alanna and her passion to make the world a better place. CoverGirl gifted Alanna with nail supplies to help Polished Girlz and $10,000. The best part was that Alanna appeared grateful for the check, but she turned around immediately to look at the new supplies. You could almost see the gears turning in her head and she thought of the smiles the CoverGirl nail polish would bring to girls around the country.
