Ellen: Clint Eastwood Interview
Clint Eastwood, legendary actor, director, and five-time Academy Award winner, stopped by Ellen September 18 for an interview. Luckily, Clint is neighbors with Ellen, as his office is right next door. Ellen explained that Clint is a huge animal lover, and they both share a group of squirrels that come into their offices to feed. The people in Clint’s office even sit with the squirrels on their laps! However, Clint left the rodents behind for his appearance on the show, where he discussed his latest project, his political views, and his family’s reality show.
Clint Eastwood: Republican National Convention
Clint recently spoke at the Republican National Convention, where he made headlines with his “Empty Chair” bit. Ellen said, “You got a lot of attention for that, but you don’t care, do you?” Clint bluntly answered, “No!”
Clint explained some of his political views for the audience. He started voting Republican when he was in his 20s, but his true beliefs are in Libertarianism. A libertarian believes in personal freedoms and fiscal conservatism, but is socially more liberal. Therefore, Clint believes that gay marriage should be legal, because a true libertarian “leaves everybody alone.” In his opinion, there are far more important issues to worry about– such as high debt and unemployment– than whether or not same sex couples should be allowed to marry.
Clint Eastwood: “Eastwood & Company” on E!
Clint’s family– his wife, Dina, and daughter, Francesca– star on an E! reality series called Eastwood & Company. However, Clint does not appear, and admitted that he hasn’t seen much of the show. Ellen brought up Francesca’s boyfriend, the controversial celebrity photographer Tyler Shields. “You couldn’t just bring home a nice dweeb?” Clint said of his daughter’s relationship.
Clint Eastwood: Trouble With the Curve
Clint then discussed his latest film, a baseball themed drama called Trouble With The Curve. The film also stars Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, and John Goodman. Trouble With The Curve is the first film in twenty years that Clint has appeared in, but not directed himself. Instead, the film was directed by Clint’s friend and first-time director Robert Lorenz.
Clint Eastwood: Golfing with Justin Timberlake
Clint Eastwood has forged a friendship with his Trouble With The Curve co-star, Justin Timberlake. The two have recently been spending a lot of time together golfing. Clint’s handicap is sixteen, while Justin’s is an impressive six. Clint also enjoys flying helicopters in his spare time. “You’re a very talented man,” Ellen told her friend Clint.
Don’t miss Clint Eastwood in Trouble With The Curve in theaters on Friday, September 21 2012.
