Ellen Interview: Amanda Seyfried
Ellen DeGeneres introduced a clip from the new movie Gone, starring Amanda Seyfried, whom you may remember from Mamma Mia.
I think the Pronunciation Guy needs to do a video for Amanda Seyfried’s name. Surprisingly, this is the first time Ellen and Amanda have met one another.
Amanda Seyfried’s Knit Hat
Amanda said sometimes she is uncomfortable receiving a gift, because she is afraid she will have to act like you like a gift even if you don’t. Amanda presented Ellen with a hat she made. She said she made about 20 hats during the filming of the movie to give to members of the cast and crew, and it takes about three hours to knit one hat.
Amanda Seyfried Knits While Working Out
Amanda thinks of her knitting hobby as therapy. She said she knits while working out on the elliptical machine. That is a great way to multitask and be productive, but doesn’t that get sweat on your knitting projects? Amanda said she sometimes takes it to another level and listens to a book on tape while knitting and working out.
Amanda said the hat featured sparkly alpaca yarn. Ellen said she’d never seen a sparkly alpaca in the wild. Amanda explained that alpaca yarn is soft, but cheaper than cashmere.
Ellen also got a gift for Amanda, which she said she knitted herself. They were a raggedy pair of Ellen Underwear, and one leg was much longer than the other. Amanda promptly put on the knit underwear under her dress. She should not wear that while working out, I think!
Amanda Seyfriend: Modeling & All My Children
Ellen wore Amanda’s knit hat and asked about Amanda’s modeling career. Amanda started modeling at age 10, and transitioned into acting while living in New York City. One of Amanda’s archive photos featured a dress created by her mother.
Amanda had her first kiss as an actress on All My Children, which was her first big TV role. Now she has her first kiss documented on camera for posterity. She did say she thinks there is too much technology in the world today, but she did enjoy reliving her first kiss on video.
Amanda Seyfried: Gone Review
Amanda explained the premise of her new movie Gone. “It’s a psychological thriller…about this serial killer who took my character years ago. She was able to escape, and now he’s taken her sister…and the cops don’t believe her,” she said.
She said there is no blood, but the movie will make you think. Ellen said it is getting great reviews. Gone opens Friday, February 24, 2012 in theaters.
