Ellen Surprises Single Mom Of 4
Ellen played a really endearing trick on one of her audience members.
Pretending to be unaware of who the woman was, she convinced an audience member named Jackie to get up and dance in the aisle.
“Come here,” Ellen said to Jackie. “I want to talk to you.”
The next part seemed sort of suspiciously staged, but maybe it really was a surprise. Who knows?
Ellen showed a video clip that Jackie had submitted detailing how hard her life had been the last few years.
Jackie said she had been a single mom for the past four years. Her house had been foreclosed.
She said she was too broke to give her kids the things they want.
“They’re good kids and they deserve to be rewarded,” she said.
Jackie said she tries to get by with little or no money.
“It’s living check to check,” she said. “It’s calling my daughter on a Monday and saying, I’ve got $14 til Monday and we have to make this work.”
She talked about her decrepit, unreliable car, that she named Vanessa.
Jackie said that despite how hard things had gotten, her daughters “never complain.”
“You’re a great dancer and an amazing woman,” Ellen said.
“My kids are great,” Jackie said. “That makes it easy. I have great daughters.”
“Probably cause they have a great mom,” Ellen said.
Ellen Gives To Single Mom
To help Jackie in her struggles and to reward her for being such a great mom, Ellen gave her a lot of gifts.
First, she gave each of her daughters $200 gift cards for JC Penney. Then she gave Jackie a beautiful necklace by Pandora and all of the prizes she gave away during her “12 Days Of Giveaways.”
Ellen laughed that Jackie named her car Vanessa.
“I hope you name your next car Ellen,” she said as she revealed a 2012 Subaru Forester.
“That’s your new car!” Ellen said.

Jackie was weeping as she walked over to the car.
“It’s amazing, right?” Ellen said. “You’re going to love this car. It’s safe and it’s named Ellen, right?”
“Absolutely!” Jackie said.
