Dr Phil: Amanda Must Choose – Tummy Tuck, Breast Implants Or Fiancé?

Dr Phil: Plastic Surgery After Having Kids

Ali and Amanda have a normal life together. They are raising five kids, including a set of twins, and are engaged to be married. What should be a happy time in Amanda’s life is now a mental nightmare.

After five kids, Amanda’s skin is stretched and she is not comfortable in her self image. She wants to get a tummy tuck, breast implants and a breast lift. She breast feed all of her children for a year each and it’s left her body sagging and deflated.

Ali said that if Amanda got plastic surgery and implants he would call off the engagement. He has his reasons. First of all, with five kids to provide for he doesn’t see the importance of spending money on plastic surgery. He wants to put the $16,000 toward their college and future. Second, he wants a natural woman with “no preservatives.”

Dr Phil: Should Amanda Get Plastic Surgery?

Dr Phil: Amanda Must Choose - Tummy Tuck, Breast Implants Or Fiancé?

Amanda wants to get compliments from Ali, her fiancé. She thinks that a tummy tuck will make her feel better about herself.

Amanda’s mother, Sue, completely supports her surgery and co-signed to get the funds for it. Sue wants Ali to support Amanda. She understands why her daughter wants to feel better about herself.

Amanda weighed over 300 pounds at one point. When she met Ali she was at 235 and losing more weight. She’s lost 101 pounds, but she can’t do anything to fix the skin. She wants to feel comfortable in her own skin and get compliments from Ali. She said Ali doesn’t compliment her at all, but will praise women online for their perky breasts and flat tummies. She said it hurts her.

Dr Phil: Ali On Self Confidence

Ali told Dr Phil, “I’m not the type of person who can boost her confidence.”

He said that his nature as a man prevents him from being the completely supportive person. He doesn’t think that any one person can give someone the self confidence they need. He wants Amanda to find confidence in herself, not in her looks.
