Dr Phil: Online Hoaxes & Internet Love Scams
Craig met Jen online five years ago and they got engaged over the phone. His mother wrote to Dr. Phil and told him about the situation and how her son was being swindled out of $20,000. They came to Dr. Phil on January 24 2013 to uncover the truth.
Jen called in and said that everything would have been fine if Craig’s mom had “butt out” of their lives. Dr. Phil asked her if she would meet him after the show with cameras to prove her existence. She agreed on air, but after she backed out. Dr. Phil called her and said there was something fishy, or catfishy, about the situation.
Jen made it clear to Craig that she didn’t want to meet anymore. She told him she was getting harassed and had bricks thrown through her windows after the show aired. She promised to take a photo holding a sign to prove she was real, but he never got any photo. He has refused to be in a real relationship with her until he knows she is real.
Dr Phil: Jen Johnson Online Love Hoax
Dr. Phil met with two other men who had been fooled by Jen Johnson. Brandon met her in 2007 on MySpace. Since then, Jen has messaged his current and past girlfriends to tell them that she was his best friend. Jerry met her in 2012 online and had a relationship with her. Jen asked for small amounts of money from both of them, but they never sent any. She asked for racy pictures, which Brandon sent her, but he never got any in return.
Craig was happy to meet the men and to know that this wasn’t just him getting fooled.
Dr Phil: Ally Defends Herself
Ally saw the pictures of “Jen Johnson” and knew that she was being taken advantage of. When a friend messaged her on Facebook telling her about the photos on Dr. Phil she had her mother write to the show. Ally came to defend herself. She was shocked that someone was using her photo on multiple sites and posing as her to trick men. She wanted people to know that someone was using her and that she was the real girl in the photo.
Dr. Phil found the girl posing as Jen Johnson, but he couldn’t show her photo. There was a huge difference according to Ally.
Dr Phil: Angie & Danny
