Dr. Phil: Roger Bailed Jordan Out Of All Her Problems
Several years ago, drug addict Jordan stole guns and jewelry from her boyfriend’s family, and they were ready to press charges. Instead of allowing Jordan to see the consequences for her actions, though, Roger paid off the family, thereby perpetuating his history of enabling.
On top of that, when Jordan got out of a halfway house, Roger said that he would be the sober figure in her life, but he was never around, so Jordan soon left. Instead of letting Jordan realize that she had nowhere to go, Roger got her a place to live. These are two examples of many where Roger got Jordan out of trouble or supported her when he shouldn’t have.
Dr. Phil said that he understood why Roger was doing what he was doing, but his good intentions are horribly misguided. It’s not Roger’s fault that Jordan is on drugs, but he has become part of the problem by giving Jordan a “Daddy Button” to press whenever she needs some quick help, and Jordan knows this and has taken advantage of it.
Dr. Phil: Jordan Is Emotionally Underdeveloped & Needs To Be Held To A Standard
Dr. Phil was almost certain that Jordan started using drugs as early as 13 or at the latest by 15. When drugs enter the mind of someone so young, it does not allow them to mature, and makes them emotionally underdeveloped. Dr. Phil said that Jordan’s self-worth and self-esteem are on the floor and is walking around with an inefficient brain, and despite her age, Dr. Phil sees Jordan as a child.
Dr. Phil said that what Jordan needs is not to be helped financially, but held to a standard from which she cannot stray. Without any type of standard or accountability, Roger will just continue enabling, loving, and funding Jordan until she eventually dies.
