Dr. Phil: Schizophrenic Heroin Addict Gets Help From Creative Care

Ashley got the help she needed from Creative Care, a dual-diagnostic clinic in Malibu.

Lisa made some dire mistakes early on in Ashley’s childhood, such as putting drugs and alcohol over Ashley. Ashley, who is a schizophrenic that is now addicted to heroin, was dropped off at someone’s house by Lisa so that she could go get her drugs. While Ashley was there, she was violated and abused by the people there, and she is now dealing with that mentally. She blames her mother both for her lack of a childhood, and for the fact that she has not even been given a chance to fully heal from it now.

Lisa has made mistakes recently, as well. Instead of putting Ashley through a potentially dangerous withdrawal and just to get her to the next day, Lisa has actually driven Ashley to get drugs on occasion. Since she was heavily into drugs in the past, Lisa is against them now. However, she had to put aside her beliefs to prevent the situation from spiraling wildly out of control. Dr. Phil sympathized, but said that a solution needed to be found soon to bring this insane lifestyle to an end.

One of Ashley’s biggest concerns was her daughter, Emma, who was taken away from her recently after Ashley was arrested for drug possession. She was going to court the next day to fight for custody of her daughter. Even though Ashley has never made the mistake of bringing Emma to a drug house, her heroin addiction and mental problems are making so that she can’t take care of anyone.

Dr. Phil said that Ashley needs to get treatment for both problems, and he arranged for her to be sent to Creative Care in Malibu, a dual-diagnostic facility that specailizes in not only the treatment of drug and alcohol addictions, but how they can complicate mental disorders as well. Ashley tearfully welcomed the help with open arms, but admitted that she was scared to finally leave her current life behind.
