James found Doug Perry through his internet presence. Doug’s sermons said that the end was nigh, and the safest place to be on judgement day was his headquarters in Missouri. Hearing this, James quit his job, packed as much as he could carry, sold off or gave away what he couldn’t bring, and moved his family to Missouri.

Soon after Doug and his family got there, however, him and his wife’s marriage began to decline. His wife, Jennifer, latched on Doug Perry, who told her not to latch on to her husband and turn him into an idol. Jennifer was upset that James did not hang on every one of his words like she did.

Promiscuity was encouraged there, and people were bounced around from marriage to marriage. Jennifer began to believe that God told her to take her wedding ring off, and she told James that they couldn’t sleep in the same bed anymore because James would soon have a new wife.

So, at 3:00 a.m. on night, James took his kids and drove off into the night. Jennifer was furious and said that James was trying to manipulate her into coming home. He was then arrested for four counts of felony kidnapping, and filed for divorce while he was in prison.

His other daughter was said to have a spirit of seduction in her because Jennifer was said to have a spirit of seduction in her, and it therefore was carried down.
