Dr. Phil: Michelle Doesn’t Think She Hurt Anyone With Her Crime
Michelle doesn’t think that any harm was done to anyone but herself as a result of her crime, but she is very wrong. Michelle’s entire family cut her out of their lives after this happened, and Michelle was devastated because of this. The folks at Dr. Phil reached out to Michelle’s family to get their perspective on the incident, and they had a lot to say.
Michelle’s Family – She Has Brought Shame & Disgust To Our Family
The first letter was from an anonymous family member that did not have nice words for Michelle. They not only sheltered her at her aunt’s house while she was faking her pregnancy and planning the abduction, but bought her baby clothes to help her out as well. They don’t think that she understands the damage she has done to her family and think that she should be seeking help from the confines of a prison cell. They feel that she has brought a lot of shame and disgust to the family and are disappointed in her parents who have allowed her to believe what she did is okay.
Michelle Needs To Own Her Actions
Michelle doesn’t understand why people keep judging her because it is all in the past now, but Dr. Phil doesn’t think that will come until she fully grasps what she did. She needs to understand that what she did was selfish, immature and narcissistic. She can’t excuse or trivialize it, she just has to accept that what she did was wrong, wrong, wrong. Until she owns what she did and shows people that she understands how wrong her actions were, she will never get the forgiveness and acceptance she is seeking from her family.
Michelle Is Afraid Of Being Judged
Michelle claims to have fully owned up to what she did but is afraid that even if she makes people see that, they will still judge her. Dr. Phil says she needs to be okay with that and not give her power to these people. If she forgives herself, judgement coming from other people will fail to register with her.
