Dr Oz: Chris Powell + Fat Burning & Metabolism Boosting Meals

Dr Oz welcomed Chris Powell to his show to talk about weight loss transformations, and reminded everyone of the newly engaged couple couple Ron and Angela. Dr Oz had his cameras follow the couple to capture all their behind-the-scenes moments as they worked with Chris. Chris and his wife Heidi worked together to help the couple, and after the show they began losing weight, although not fast enough.

They were sent to bootcamp with Chris and Heidi to accelerate their weight loss with diet and exercise. Ron said it was the hardest thing he’s done in 12 years and the couple knew they had to work together. At one point, Ron broke down because he realized what he had done to himself.

Dr Oz: Low-Carb, Fat Burning Days

Chris shared that Ron has lost 46 pounds and Angela has lost 31 pounds. There was a plan that he used to push them through their plateau to get them losing weight again. He started with fat-burning days that were low in carbohydrates. A low-carb day allows your body to mobilize and oxidize fat. You have these fat-burning, low carb days on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

On those days, you start with egg white tacos with a little cheese, using tortillas. But then you pull the carbs out and have a protein shake with a tablespoon of peanut butter for a snack. For lunch, you can enjoy chicken cutlets with olive oil and leafy green vegetables. An afternoon snack option is Greek yogurt with pecans, and finally for dinner you can enjoy steak cutlets with peppers, onions, and balsamic vinegar.

Dr Oz: Metabolism Boosting Days

You also want to have metabolism boosting days, where you enjoy healthy carbohydrates. For breakfast you can enjoy a whole-grain English muffin with egg whites and tomatoes, a lunch of chicken and couscous, and a chocolate protein shake with an apple for a snack. You eat these meals on two days out of the week, which means on the seventh day, you get a reward.

Dr Oz: Reward Day

On your reward day, you can indulge a little bit and consume between 500-1,000 extra calories. You don’t want to go overboard, but you want to be able to enjoy foods like a slice of pizza or a burger with some French fries. You don’t want to feel completely deprived.
