Chris said that removing carbs completely from your diet is not the weight loss secret that a lot of us expect it to be. Though the immediate results seem promising, it can be worse for your success over hte long term, even eventually causing weight gain.

Doctor Oz added that our bodies need some carbohydrates to live. It’s about finding the right balance of carbs to give you energy without causing weight gain. You have to learn what is right for your body and not give it fewer carbs than it needs or more than it can handle without putting on weight.

That’s because your metabolism and even your thyroid gland slow down their work because they’re not getting fuel from the energy in some carbohydrates.


That means that you could still gain weight even though you’ve taken carbs out of the equation. This can make you discouraged about your fitness and health because it won’t seem like you are making any progress, even though you thought you were doing the right thing.

Finding the right carb level for you is the first step to break out of this negative pattern. It can be hard to stay in that ideal energy zone, for a variety of reasons. That’s where the Chris Powell carb cycling plan comes into play.

Chris said he knows it isn’t realistic or feasible for people to measure their daily carb intake and micromanage the process. That’s why his seven-day cycle alternates between high carb days and low carb days.

A high carb day puts you in the ideal energy zone. The next day is a low carb day, which means you are burning fat. But before you are running on empty, you switch back to a high carb day once again. It makes sense, but I wonder if it is really more sustainable than other diets. Has anyone tried it?
