Doctor Oz helped us take a healthy look at our diets to Make Breakfast Healthy and Fight Exhaustion With Proteins. Then he got around to everyone’s favorite part of any meal: dessert. Here are the healthy sweet treats featured in today’s show.
Dr Oz: Diana Dark Chocolate Banana Babies Review
Dr Oz introduced a product called Diana Dark Chocolate Banana Babies, calling it one of his favorite sweet snacks. I love bananas and dark chocolate, so I’m already pre-sold on this. But it’s also got Potassium in the banana, as well as the Antioxidants and Flavonoids you know are in dark chocolate, which are a boon to your blood pressure. Enjoy this healthy 130 calorie treat.
Dr Oz: Whole Grain Cookies Cookie Heaven Review
Whole grains are usually better for you, and these cookies contain Honey Maple Walnut Flax, which means you’re getting Omega 3s in your dessert. These cookies also help you mitigate your bad LDL Cholesterol.
Dr Oz: Kind Bars Review
Dr Oz also featured Kind Bards, which are Gluten Free and contain premium ingredients. They come in multiple flavors, and he called them a Heart Healthy snack. They are high in Protein and Fiber, with just 180 calories in a serving.
Dr Oz: Healthy Sundaes
If you like Sundaes but not the negative health impact that comes with them, Doctor Oz had good news today. He has been searching for low calorie, healthy sundaes. He chose two favorites and invited the chefs to prepare them for a sundae showdown.
To help judge the competition, he invited former Top Chef and author Gail Simmons, author of Talking With My Mouth Full. Gail Simmons said she is looking for a creamy, delicious taste, as well as paying close attention to texture.
Dr Oz: Super Simple Sundae Recipe
- 1 scoop Mango Coconut Milk Ice Cream
- 1 scoop Raspberry Sorbet
- ¼ cup Naked Red Machine Smoothie
- 3 Strawberries, fresh
- 2 Strawberries, frozen
- 1 tbsp. Dark Chocolate shavings
This recipe had 361 calories, down from the 1000 calories found in a traditional sundae. Gail Simmons concluded that it had the right creaminess for a sundae.
Dr Oz: Very Berry Banana Blast Sundae Recipe
- 1 scoop Vanilla Soy Ice Cream
- 3 tsp. Dark Chocolate, melted
- ¼ cup Banana
- ¼ cup Blueberries
- ¼ cup Pineapple
- ¼ cup Strawberries
- ¼ cup Pomegranate
- ¼ cup Blackberries
This recipe had 373 calories, just a tad higher than the previous one. Dr Oz said the two desserts were a dead heat in terms of health.
But judge Gail Simmons made her decision based on taste. She found that the Soy Ice Cream was a great alternative and praised the texture of the Pomegranate. She chose this as her favorite of the two sundaes.
