Dr Oz: Daphne Oz Home Remedies

Dr. Oz invited a special guest into his April 22 2013 episode. His daughter, Daphne Oz, stopped by the show to talk about new book, Relish, finding her own success in life and what it was like growing up in the Oz household. She and Dr. Oz also went head to head to compete in a showdown to see who had the best home remedies.

Dr Oz: Daphne Oz Chili Jam Chicken Recipe

Daphne Oz Chili Jam Chicken Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in chicken thighs with skin removed
  • 4 tablespoons chili jam (some of Daphne’s favorites: Hell Fire Pepper Jelly from Jenkins Jellies or INNA Jam’s Plenty Spicy Jalapeno for heat seekers)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper

    Dr Oz and his daughter Daphne Oz went over her recipes, like her chili jam chicken recipe, her chocolate fudge pops recipe and caramelized sweet potato recipe.

Daphne Oz Chili Jam Chicken Directions:

  • Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with plenty of salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and arrange the chicken thighs in the pan. Cook the chicken on one side, allowing it time to unstick itself from the pan surface and form a nice, crispy coating, around 10 minutes. Turn the chicken thighs and cook on the other side for 10 minutes, or until you can insert a knife to the bones and the liquid that comes out is clear.
  • Lower temperature to medium and spoon a fourth of the chile jam over each thigh. Allow the jam to melt over the chicken, using tongs to turn and swirl the thighs in the skillet. Cook for another two minutes until the jam forms a glaze. Transfer the thighs to a serving plate and spoon the glaze over the top of each one.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the chicken just before serving.

Dr Oz: Daphne Oz Caramelized Sweet Potatoes and Peaches Recipe

Daphne Oz Caramelized Sweet Potatoes and Peaches Ingredients:

  • 2 medium peaches, pitted and sliced into 4 wedges each
  • 1 medium sweet potato, washed and cut into one inch pieces
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon organic coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt

Daphne Oz Caramelized Sweet Potatoes and Peaches Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Whisk together coconut oil, syrup, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl. Put the potato chunks and peach wedges in two separate bowls. Pour three quarters of the syrup mixture over the sweet potato and one quarter over the peaches and toss to coat. Spread the potatoes in one layer in a large baking dish and cook in the oven for 10 minutes. Turn the potatoes and roast for five minutes longer. Add the onion and roast for an additional 15 minutes. Turn the potatoes and onion, add the peaches in a single layer and cook for 10 minutes.

Daphne Oz Chocolate Fudge Pops Ingredients:

  • 13 ounce can original coconut milk
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Daphne Oz Chocolate Fudge Pops Ingredients:

  • Combine ingredients and blend until smooth. Divide the mixture among six ice pop molds and freeze for at least two hours.

Dr Oz: Hula Hoop Challenge

Dr. Oz took on another viewer challenge today and this time it involved hula hooping. He was up for the surprise challenge and even even shocked the audience with his hula hooping skills.
