Dr Oz has found the latest diet aid that could be your ticket to weight loss success: Yacon Syrup. The thick, dark syrup grows in the Andes Mountains, where it has been used by Peruvians and all over South America.

The syrup has a consistency like molasses and is used as a natural sweetener. A new study suggests that it could also be used as a weight loss tool. Overweight women who consumed a three or four teaspoons throughout the day lost an average of 33 pounds in four months, along with 4” off the waist.

Dr Oz put this to the test himself in a study revealed on the show. But first, he had his audience taste the syrup; not everyone seems to like the taste. Of the women who participated in the study, reactions varied. One woman compared it to raisins. Another thought it tasted like candy. Dr Oz compared it to the fusion of a fig and a prune. But someone else said it tasted just like molasses.

According to Doctor Oz, it has just seven calories per teaspoon. It’s satisfying and high in fiber. One woman said she added it to her coffee. How does it work? Researchers now believe that it speeds up the metabolism, while also making you feel full.

Doctor Oz said that the new study observed that Yacon Syrup wiped out hunger levels, making it easier for people to pursue their health and fitness goals.
