Dr Oz: Patricia Kelly Helping At-Risk Kids

Dr Oz introduced Patricia Kelly, who is working out of Hartford, Connecticut. While Connecticut is one of the richest states, the city of Hartford is one of the poorest cities in the United States. More than 1/3 of Hartford’s residents live below the poverty line, and many of them are children. Patricia came up with a way to make a difference in the lives of those children.

She gives at-risk kids the opportunity to ride horses, and she’s been doing it for 30 years. Patricia hopes the horses will help steer kids toward better choices and better lives overall. Patricia knows firsthand how a horse can improve your life. Her program reaches over 300 kids a year and the kids themselves even know what they would likely be doing without Patricia.

Dr Oz: Changing Lives Of Children

Patricia joined Dr Oz and shared that the horses are large and intimidating, and when a child is confronted by a horse, they are immediately faced with their own fears and inhibitions. Patricia shared that one of her alumni is a civil rights attorney for the Obama administration, but there are many alumni who are now living wonderful lives.

Dr Oz: Surprise For Woman Helping At-Risk Kids

Dr Oz surprised Patricia by sharing that there was a young girl whom Patricia met when she was just 14 years old, and she’s now a science/agricultural teacher, all thanks to Patricia. Her name is Stephan and Patricia said she was always nice and beautiful, but now she’s a grown woman.

Patricia said she’s grateful that God chose her to help all those kids. Patricia said if God took her today, she’d be happy with what she’s done in her life so far.
