Dr Oz: Drug Epidemic Affecting Middle Class
Dr Oz was joined by Krishna Andavolu, host of Weediquette, to talk about the potential for marjuana to be used to treat opioid addictions. Krishna recently visited Harmony, Maine to find out more about the new research and the growing trend.
Addiction is something that can happen to anyone, but this modern epidemic seems to be affecting the middle class disproportionately. Crisis emerges from traditional medicine, according to Krishna. He explained that so many people who become addicted to opiates, were “normal” working class, middle class Americans who started by simply taking medicine for an injury or other cause of pain and then ended up addicted to opioids.
Basically, it’s people who are just trying to do the right things for themselves and fall down the wrong hole. “There’s something wrong with the system,” Krishna stated. “I think that’s what this epidemic points to.”
