Dr Oz: Antioxidant Mocktail Recipe
Dr Andrew Weil joined Dr Oz to help the Carters, a family who was in desperate need of an energy boost to help keep them from getting sick. Dr Weil had a guide that anyone could follow to help get your energy back and fight off illness. The entire Carter family was at the table trying some of Dr Weil’s tricks to see if they were whole-family approved.
Dr Oz and Dr Weil started with an antioxidant mocktail that everyone in the family can start their day with. Dr Weil explained that antioxidants are necessary to deal with free radicals that damage cells and immunity. The smoothie contains almond milk, frozen mango, unpeeled fresh ginger, and unpeeled fresh turmeric, as well as some ice. You should also take vitamin D every day in supplement form. He said mom and dad both needed to take at least 2,000 if not 4,000 IU of vitamin D3 a day.
- 2 cups Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 1 tbsp unpeeled Ginger
- 1 cup chopped frozen Mango
- 1 tbsp unpeeled Turmeric
- Ice Cubes
- Blend all ingredients to your desired consistency.
Dr Oz: Drink Iced Astragalus Tea + Eat Raw Garlic
Next, you should swap soda for iced astragalus tea. Dr Weil explained that it comes from a plant in China and there’s a great deal of research that shows it can boost immunity and protect against cold and flu.
Dr Weil also suggested adding raw crushed garlic to meals to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and also to fight infections. You can add it to salad dressings or other foods, as long as you add it to cooked food after the food is cooked.
Dr Oz: Use Mushrooms Instead Of Ground Beef
Next, Dr Weil said you should get rid of ground beef and instead eat maitake mushrooms. He said the mushrooms have a meaty texture and taste and they actually made a chili with it instead of beef. The family all liked the chili except for their youngest boy, who said it was a little too hot for him. As for the tea, the kids enjoyed it which was good news!
Will you be trying any of these in your on daily routine to boost your energy and immunity?
Dr Oz: Your Inbox Reflects Your Personality
At the end of his show, Dr Oz shared a tweet that said “There are two kinds of people in this world” and had two pictures of the iPhone e-mail app. It had zero unread emails while the other one had thousands of unread e-mails. Dr Oz said that some experts actually believe that your inbox reflects your personality. If it’s spotless, you could be more particular about certain things. If you have a lot of unread e-mails, you could be more focused on the bigger things in life.
