Dr Oz enlisted Wanda to play a game of Smackdown. She said her husband is the biggest pain in her life, and she typically reaches for Ibuprofen or whatever is in the medicine cabinet. Dr Oz put the possible answers to each question in front of Wanda, who was tasked with smacking down the wrong answers. Do you think you can do better than Wanda?

Dr Oz shared his favorite natural pain relievers, including Devil's Claw, Ginkgo & Willow Bark.

Wanda scratched off Dead Man’s Bells first. Then she smacked down Devil’s Claw, guessing that Witch Hazel was correct.


But no! Dr Oz revealed that Devil’s Claw is the right answer. He said it “relieves swelling [and] soothes nerves.” He suggested 200 mg, three times per day.

Dr Oz: Willow Bark Arthritis Remedy

Arthritis can be treated with what natural anti-inflammatory?

  • Oak Bark
  • Willow Bark
  • Cedar Bark

Wanda eliminated Cedar Bark and Oak Bark, guessing that Willow Bark is the answer.

She was right this time! Willow Bark has been used for centuries to treat conditions such as Arthritis, and it’s similar to Aspirin but has additional benefits. Dr Oz recommended a 500 mg dose twice daily.

Which natural remedy is a great way to reduce headaches?

  • Ginkgo
  • St John’s Wort
  • Ginseng

The audience member scratched out St. John’s Wort and Ginkgo, leaving Ginseng as her answer. But she also asked her parents for a second opinion; they backed her up.

Dr Oz: Ginkgo Diabetes Warning

But the right answer, according to Dr Oz, was Ginkgo, which is also effective for some migraines. Dr Oz warned that this isn’t a great remedy for Diabetics, because it raises Insulin levels.
