Dr Oz: Simple Yoga Moves To Ease Your Pain

Do you want to say goodbye to pain? Dr Oz said that five yoga moves could help you get relief, and he invited Keith Mitchell, a former NFL player who is now a yogi. Learn how back pain yoga, the Half Pigeon Pose and more can help you stretch and relax.

Keith Mitchell said that he made a tackle during his final season on the field, and he could not get up. He had a spinal contusion, and he turned to yoga and meditation as rehabilitation, which has changed his whole life.

Dr Oz said that yoga has become popular across the country and has many health benefits. Here’s how it can help you. Try these poses on both sides or alternate legs when you practice them at home.

Dr Oz: Reclining Spinal Twist for Back Pain Yoga

Dr Oz: Half Pigeon Pose, Crescent Lunge & Back Pain Yoga Exercises

Do you want a natural way to relieve aches & pains? Dr Oz and ex-football pro Keith Mitchell showed targeted yoga exercises, like the Half Pigeon Pose.

If you have back pain, try the Reclining Spinal Twist pose. Lay on your back and bring your knees to your chest. Then lean your legs to the left, stretching out your arms as you breathe. (Don’t force your knees down.)

Dr Oz: Modified Crescent Lunge for Hip Pain Yoga

On your left knee, bring the right foot forward. Push on the hip to extend the pose and lubricate the joint.

Dr Oz: Half Pigeon Pose for Shoulder Pain Yoga

Slow down your yoga and get back to the fundamentals of connecting with the body. Keith Mitchell demonstrated the pose, stretching the left leg out behind him and curling the right leg underneath, laying face down with arms outstretched above the head.

Dr Oz: Chair Pose for Leg Pain Yoga

For leg pain, Keith showed Dr Oz and his students the Chair Pose. Bring the feet together with your ankles touching. Put your hands in prayer position and slightly squat, stretching your arms forward into the air.

Dr Oz: Savasana Body Relief Yoga Pose (Corpse Pose)

For total body relief, Dr Oz and Keith showed the Savasana or Corpse Pose. Lie on your back with arms out to the sides. Do some deep breathing and relaxation to soothe the body.

Dr Oz viewers joined him onstage at the end of the show to share some of their favorite tips from past episodes.

  • Neti Pot – A woman experienced new allergies when she moved, but she got relief thanks to Dr Oz’s suggestion of a Neti Pot.
