Dr Oz: Healthy Fast Food Breakfast
Dr Oz’s show is always featuring great recipes, such as the Gluten Free Blueberry Walnut Scones from this episode. But honestly, we don’t have as much time as we would like to cook every meal at home. I think Dr Oz must know that too, because past episodes have featured segments about Healthy Fast Food Burgers and light choices from McDonald’s, Subway, and Domino’s. But today was all about breakfast on the go, and Dr Oz helped expose the best choices from healthy fast food breakfast menus at Dunkin Donuts, Subway and Burger King.
Dr Oz: Dunkin Donuts Healthy Breakfast Review
To help his audience make the best breakfast choices in a hurry, Dr Oz pitted restaurant menu items against each other in his Battle of the Drive Thru Breakfasts. First up was the Dunkin Donuts chain. Which item do you think is healthier?
- Whole Wheat Bagel with reduced fat Cream Cheese
- Egg White Turkey Sausage Wrap
The winner is the Turkey Sausage Wrap, with 150 calories and 5 grams of fat; that compares to 420 calories and 11.5 grams of fat in the bagel. Dr Oz said the wrap is so healthy that you could eat two, guilt-free.
Dr Oz: Subway Healthy Breakfast Review
Which Subway breakfast menu item is the healthier choice?
- Egg White & Cheese Muffin Melt with Black Forest Ham
- Yogurt Parfait with Granola
The Muffin wins this round, with 170 calories and one gram of sugar. The yogurt has 160 calories, but 24 grams of sugar.
Dr Oz: Burger King Healthy Breakfast Review
Dr Oz’s last fast food breakfast contender was Burger King. Which would you choose?
- Breakfast Bowl (eggs, roasted peppers, sausage, potato)

The healthy choice in this case is Oatmeal, with 200 calories and 3 grams of fat. The Breakfast Bowl has 540 calories and 42 grams of fat.
