Dr Oz: Fight Sweet Cravings
Dr Oz wants to make sure his plan will give people the results they’re looking for on his Total 10 Rapid Weight-Loss Plan. First, he wanted to tackle questions about the foods that are on the forbidden list. Sheryl said she’s lost 12 pounds on the plan so far but wanted to know if there were any sugars that weren’t forbidden. Dr Oz said the best way to continue to lost weight is to stay away from refined sugars. He said they suck us in and create cravings, but there are certain sweeteners that are approved. On the plan you’re allowed to have dates, cocoa powder, unsweetened coconut milk unsweetened almond milk, and liquid stevia.
Dr Oz explained that liquid stevia is a natural sweetener that is about 25 times sweeter than sugar, so you don’t need very much. Dr Oz said the pure liquid stevia can help deal with those cravings.
Dr Oz: Cheaper Vegetable Broth
Next, Dr Oz wanted to answer a question about the detox broth which you can eat in unlimited quantities on the plan. Tammy said she lost five pounds in the first week and has been enjoying the detox soup every day, saying it keeps her full but it’s very expensive. Dr Oz said if you look at the Total 10 grocery list, the vegetables that go in the broth are actually some of the same vegetables that you buy on the plan to incorporate into your meals. He suggested using what you can from the vegetable list to make the broth, or you can just buy low-sodium vegetable broth from the store.
Dr Oz: Protein Intake On Total 10 Plan
One woman wanted to know if the two tablespoons of protein powder that they were advised to put into the breakfast shake was part of the daily allowance for protein. Dr Oz said you actually get both, explaining that you get 10 grams of protein for breakfast from the powder, and then you eat 12 ounces of protein for the rest of the day that comes from poultry, fish, or eggs.
Dr Oz: Total 10 Rapid Weight-Loss Plan Exercise
Terry on Twitter asked what exercises Dr Oz suggested for the plan. He said that exercise isn’t mandatory for the plan and will actually cause some people to gain weight because they eat more when they exercise. He explained that you can actually lose weight without exercising on the plan. He does want you to move around though, so to boost your weight loss potential, he suggested walking about 10,000 steps a day. Approximately 2,000 steps equals a mile, which means you would be walking about five miles a day.
Dr Oz: Total 10 Healthy Snack Ideas
Dr Oz said a lot of people were also asking about snacks, so he shared new and improved snacks that will help keep you motivated. Research shows that halfway through any weight loss program is where most people drop out. Amanda is on the plan and lost 140 pounds before starting the plan. She hit a plateau and the plan helped get her weight loss going again. She said she likes quick grab-and-go snacks, so she makes chickpeas season with cumin, rosemary, chili powder, sea salt, olive oil, and lime juice. Just toss it together and pop it in the oven for about 45-50 minutes.
Another snack idea is almond butter quinoa balls, for which you can find the recipe below. Philomena shared that she’s been on the plan for two weeks and lost 12 pounds.
