Dr Oz: The Quick and Clean Diet Review
News anchor Dari Alexander, author of The Quick and Clean Diet, said she had to research diet plans as part of her work. She often tried them herself and they all usually only worked for the first few days before she started feeling restricted in what she could eat. This led her to writing The Quick and Clean Diet. Alexander said she is a person who believes in liking the food that you eat, so there are some items she always has in her pantry:
Liquid Amino – This is an all-purpose seasoning that is derived from soybeans and while there is no sodium in liquid amino, it tastes similar to soy sauce.
Agave Nectar – Used as a great sweetener.
Spices – Spices are a great way to add flavor to your food without adding any added calories.
Dr Oz: Use Chicken Broth In Place Of Oil
Alexander’s next secret in her Quick and Clean Diet is to always have a few cooking staples on hand.
Vegetable and chicken broth – These are both great flavor enhancers. They can be used in place of oil when sautéing as well.
Panko breadcrumbs – Alexander said panko is a great cooking staple because it can be used to add flavor or a little crunch to just about any dish.
Colorful fruits – Alexander called these her BFF diet foods. They include any colorful fruits such as pineapples, cherries, peppers, red cabbage and any other colorful fruit or vegetable
Dr Oz: Dari Alexander Shrimp Taco Lettuce Wraps Recipe
Alexander said the key when preparing meals for her family is to find something fast and easy, but healthy and filled with flavor at the same time. Get her recipe for some quick and simple tacos below.
Dari Alexander Shrimp Taco Ingredients:
- 4 oz. Shrimp
- ¼ Cup Bean Sprouts
- Large Boston Lettuce Wraps
- 1 teaspoon Garlic
- 1 Tablespoon Canola Oil
- 1 Tomato, diced
- 1 teaspoon Cilantro, chopped
- ½ Lime to squeeze over your tacos
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Dari Alexander Shrimp Taco Directions:
- Sauté the garlic and bean sprouts in the canola oil just until browned. Add the shrimp and continue cooking until the shrimp turns pink, stirring constantly.
- Take a leaf of lettuce and fill it with the shrimp mixture along with the diced tomatoes, cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice. Roll it up and enjoy.
Dr Oz: Avocados Have 322 Calories
Dr. Oz contacted Google to get some health related numbers from the past year and what he found was shocking. The number one calorie search was for McDonald’s and the number two search was for Chipotle. The average calorie count per meal was around 1,600 calories.The third highest health related search was for avocados, which come in at 322 calories. Although avocados do have over 300 calories in each one, Dr .Oz said they are good source of good fat, so he suggested eating a bunch of them.
Dr Oz: Michael Phelps Burned 1,000 Calories Per Hour
Dr. Oz also wanted to know what kind of diets people were searching for on Google and he was surprised to hear the highest number was for the Michael Phelps diet.
Did you know that when Michael Phelps was training for the Olympics he burned 1,000 calories per hour, which required him to eat about 12,000 calories a day? That is incredible. That is about the number of calories most of us should eat in an entire week.
Dr Oz: Calories Burned During Zumba Workout
Dr. Oz’s final search result he wanted to learn about was related to fitness. The number one question asked via Google search was how many calories are burned during a Zumba workout. You will burn between 600 and 800 calories per hour, or even more depending how hard you work!
