Dr Oz: Dopamine Diet Review
Dr. Oz and his guest, Bryce Wylde, explained how dopamine levels in your brain could be very low which could be the reason you crave food all day long. They came up with three questions everyone can ask themselves to find out if they have low dopamine levels and now they are going over how the dopamine diet can help you curb those cravings for good.
Foods High In Tyrosine Reduce Cravings
The first thing you want to do, although it sounds counterintuitive, is to start eating food. The catch is you have to eat the right foods. Wylde, author of Wylde on Health, said there are 10 foods he recommends you eat at every meal to get enough tyrosine in your body. By adding more tyrosine to your body, your dopamine levels will raise and your cravings will disappear.
- Ricotta cheese
- Mustard greens
- Fava beans – Wylde said fava beans are a food that contain so much dopamine, there are no other foods to compare it to.
- Dark chocolate
- Wheat germ
Dr Oz Edamame Puree Recipe
Wylde said there are a lot of meals you can eat each day. He recommended starting the morning with some oatmeal topped with a blackberry and wheat germ. For lunch, he suggested eating a salad with mustard greens. For dinner, Wylde said a meal of duck and edamame puree is like a supercharged meal of tyrosine. And if you ever need a snack during the day or night, eat a piece of toast with some ricotta cheese and a raspberry.
Dr Oz Edamame Puree Ingredients:
- 2 (10-oz) bags of frozen shelled edamame

- Freshly ground pepper
Dr Oz Edamame Puree Directions:
- Cook edamame in boiling water about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Combine the remaining ingredients with the cooked edamame in a blender and process until smooth. Add more or less water to make your desired consistency.
- Transfer purée to a saucepan and heat through.
Bryce Wylde – Add Tyrosine Capsules To Diet
Wylde also suggested adding tyrosine capsules and DHA omega-3 capsules to your diet. He said taking tyrosine in capsule form gives you even more tyrosine than food and it will drastically cut down on your cravings. As for the DHA omega-3 capsules, Wylde said they will enhance how well the tyrosine capsules work.
For the tyrosine capsules:
- Take 500 to 1,000mg in the morning
- Only take them for 4 to 6 weeks
What Is Hara Hachi Bu?
Wylde said the best way to stabilize your dopamine levels is to preactive hara hachi bu, an ancient practice where the person following the saying will eat about 80 percent of their fill. Since it can be hard to gauge when you have reached 80 percent of your fullness, Wylde said to eat fiber fillers to fill your stomach 20 percent. Then, all your need to do is eat until you are full.
Simply eat any of the follows products 30 minutes before a meal to help you get full, faster:
Dopamine Diet Success Stories
Dr. Oz talked with two women who have been on the diet for the past five days and they said it worked wonders to stop their cravings.
Monique said she tried eating flaxseed before every meal and she said it made her less hungry and she even lost two pounds.
Andrea said when she added the seeds to her diet, it made her cravings disappear and she also didn’t feel as hungry. She showed some of her meals, with a before and after picture, saying she couldn’t even finish her meal by the end of the five days when normally she would have eaten the whole thing easily.
