Dr Oz: Ayurvedic Medicine Helps With Belly Weight Loss

Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary said there is no arguing the fact that weight loss becomes more difficult the older you get. But she said ayurvedic medicine can ignite the digestive fire as a way to get rid of weight in hard to lose places like your hips, thighs and belly. Water-Soluble Toxins vs Lipid-Soluble Toxins

Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary told Dr. Oz the key to losing weight when you’re older is a toxin referred to as “Ama.” She continued by saying there are two types of toxins, water-soluble and lipid-soluble. The water-soluble toxins can be removed from the body by making dietary changes and by exercising more but the lipid-soluble toxins get stuck in the fat cells, making it harder to lose weight. She believes if you are having trouble losing a few pounds, it is probably due to the toxins in your body and not your lack of discipline.

Dr. Oz talked with an expert about the benefits of an Ayurvedic diet when trying to lose weight and shared an Ayurvedic tea recipe and homemade curry powder.

Dr Oz: Ayurvedic Tea Recipe

Dr. Oz and Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary shared some Ayurvedic fat fighters that you can find at your local grocery store.

Dr Oz Ayurvedic Tea Ingredients:

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds

Dr Oz Ayurvedic Tea Directions: 

  • Add the spices to a pot filled with 4 to 5 cups of water and bring to a boil. Strain out the liquid and put in a thermos to keep it hot. The hotter the tea, the more fat you will burn.

Dr Oz: Homemade Curry Powder Recipe

Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary said most people do not realize curry powder can help with weight loss. Here is Dr. Chaudhary’s very own homemade curry powder recipe. She suggested trying to add it to every meal you eat.

Dr Oz Homemade Curry Powder Ingredients:

  • 5 teaspoons coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon black mustard seeds
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric powder

Dr Oz Homemade Curry Powder Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients except the turmeric powder in a small coffee grinder. After it is ground, mix in the turmeric powder.
